Shower's in an Hour Baby Hat
Pattern designed and written by Ranee Mueller

This hat took me literally an hour to make, from casting on to weaving in the ends. Factor in time to get ready, wrap it up (possibly with the sweater you made during the week) and drive or walk to the shower, and you are set.
Materials:
1 skein Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora (99 yards)
1 skein Berroco Cotton Twist in a coordinating color (85 yards)
Set of 5 double pointed needles, size 10, or whatever size is required to achieve gauge.
Gauge:
14 sts and 20 rows = 4 inches in st st with both yarns held together.
Size:
Newborn to 3 month old baby, approximately 12 inches circumference.
Pattern Notes:
if you are using the leftover yarn from making the sweater, the amount of Cotton Angora left will be sufficient, but you will still want an additional skein of the Cotton Twist. There is almost enough left to make the hat, but not quite. I would actually start the new skein for the hat, so you don't have to weave in two extra ends. If you don't want to use two yarns, choose a bulky yarn that will knit to the same gauge.
Directions:
CO 42 sts, join, being careful not to twist sts. Knit in seed st for the first 4 rounds. Switch to st st and knit until hat measures 3 inches from beginning.
Begin decreases as follows:
Round 1: *K5, k2tog, rep from * to end - 36 sts rem
Round 2 and all alternate rounds: Knit
Round 3: *K4, k2tog, rep from * to end - 30 sts rem
Round 5: *K3, k2tog, rep from * to end - 24 sts rem
Round 7: *K2, k2tog, rep from * to end - 18 sts rem
Round 9: *K1, k2tog, rep from * to end - 12 sts rem
Round 11: *K2tog, rep from * to end - 6 sts rem
Break yarn and draw through remaining 6 sts. Weave in all ends securely and wrap up to go!
